I’m disappointed the auto closing door didn’t play the weird song like the early ‘90s Silhouettes did.

A silhouette just like this has been sitting on one of my neighbors lawns for at least the 10 years I’ve been living in that neighborhood

All of these vans had auto headlights, just no option to turn the lights on or off at night, once it turned dark, lights on... but it was hard to tell

Lot of lights went off in that van! That's way worse condition than mine! Wow! I own a Oldsmoble Silhouette 1999 truck, but no where near that condition. I don't like it though! Want to get rid of it and get a truck!

These GM minivans aren't popular with working folks, they love Mopar vans, and Quests. Can usually tell which cars/trucks last, see what construction workers drive to job sites.

I have a family friend who once had one of these vans, hers was a 1998 or 1999 Chevrolet Venture though, she drove that van all over Missouri, it broke down a few times, had someone steal the spare tire off of it, it even had a complicated issue with the A/C that nobody could fix, she just drove the van for over ten years or so, until it finally gave out on her, and she had to scrap it, so many memories...

I learned how to drive in one of these! We had one as a family car and my dad traded it in for a Mercedes GLC when he no longer needed a van since we’re all grown up now. I’m also surprised Mercedes still accepted it as trade since the van was in poor condition

They imported these into Europe under the Opel / Vauxhall Sintra name but they performed so badly in a crash that Vauxhall removed them from sale. They were replaced by the much more popular and smaller Zafira.

I knew a guy who had a 1999 Silhouette and loved it alot. He would still have it if it didn't get totalled. He bought a Chrysler Town and Country and didn't like it as much as the Oldsmobile. The Olds got better MPG too. I think his was at 200k miles when totalled. I have seen dozens of these and the Chevrolet and Pontiac versions with 250k plus miles

I drive an 02 impala with that same 3400. the engine itself isnt bad at all but if you dont keep maintainence up on it... ever single damn thing goes wrong in it. I inherited it from my older brother and his family never took care of it, so I've put endless hours of work into it. At this point though, its running like a damn dream.

That radio actually has Sirius XM. They put these in the Chevy Impalas
Viper Jay 5
Viper Jay 5 Il y a 2 ans
A few minor problems and just scrap the thing. =/ It's actually quite nice. The 3400 isn't the worst engine, but it's not the best engine either, not with the intake manifold and head gasket problems. Otherwise it's a nice running and powerful motor. I'm thinking there might be some corrosion going on which is why all those lights are on unless it's just one of those stupid cluster things that if one doesn't work, it takes it all out with it. Airbag light is on though so that makes me wonder too. The 7th gen Malibu suffers from corrosion issues which will cause traction control lights to come on, engine power reduced, etc. I like seeing a few parts in here that will be in future Impalas such as the radio and climate controls. Don't really care for the door chime either, sounds too much like a Ford. Although I did like when Oldsmobile had more of their own identity but in their final years, it was more like they were upclass Chevys.

I don't know if I'd sell that one, Jay. People are idiots---even if you told them right up front that the brake booster is shot and that they have to press on the brakes hard to stop, you just know they'd get into an accident and then blame you. Unless you had them sign something first. Oh, and Fury! I'd like to see more of that one

Definitely too nice to crush. If someone has enough mechanical acumen to change out the brake booster themselves, they could probably get several thousand more miles out of this. Body looks good, and the service engine light is likely for something minor.
