@4 Fake ...ugh, you can always opt to work for someone else. I'm sorry. Didn't know you were one stuck at a dead end job and didn't know you could leave. All you have to do though is find somewhere that will either pay more, or...pay less, but give you the lifestyle you're looking for.

@Mark W that's barring we're getting all the info. Contracts are what they are, but we also have to look at what's being said outside the contract. We aren't privy to everything which makes us more likely to disagree with something we aren't fully aware of.

@Jacey White so the player should settle for less because of that? Most of those markets don't need a league...Charlotte is one. I live in Charlotte and the benefits of the Hornets aren't good enough to continue to carry them. They cost the city more money to manage than is given back. Especially, under MJ's reign. The commissioner has to come up with a way to put the pressure on these teams to make moves or sell.

Really it's a simple solution if you sign then later on demand a trade make them pay that years salary back to team that their bolting on meaning that 40 or 50 million i had invested from the year before i want it back now you can go wherever you want

Teams are the employers so yes they can do whats best for their business the team but the players are employees and like any other job the employees get paid to do their job and that's it so the players should not be allowed to all for trades at all they are getting their huge money and they and should just do their job unless you want the thugs to run the bank

So it’s wrong for a player to request a trade when they want , but a team can release/trade a player when they want to. It’s only fair.

Just remember..... the owners, the league and the refs aren’t good at playing basketball. Just like these two idiots. Stay in your lane. The players should start their own league. It’s not hard to extort and exploit poor people, every industry does it.

i say a contract should be at least 2 yrs. teams will have to do their best to keep top players satisfied to stay.

It's plain & simple, you can either take charge of your career (life) or you can leave it up to someone else. Most of us aren't in position to do so, so we're jealous and upset when others can. Things change, when will you?

SOLUTION: Only have 1 year contracts and no trades allowed during the season. Problem solved.

Getting rid of mid-season trades would end all player leverage because sitting out games would accomplish nothing. Good idea. I dont know about 1 years deals though. I like two year deals with player options for third years being the new standard.

lol they are trying to make as much money as possible while they are in their prime. If they get injured and their career is essential over, will any of you "fans" really go out of your way to lend a helping hand?

both players AND owners got the right to do what's in their best interest -- get that cheddar ! if I invest hundreds of millions in a business, and some 'asset' wants to leave -- and he has ever right to do what's best for his legacy and his money -- then I also have every right to voice concerns.

Shannon is a hypocrite bruh I swear. He's saying that teams are trading players yet some of these guys aren't loyal to their own teams themselves like PG and AD go head with that bs

Why are people at all surprised that players that never really had much growing up or even people that had on little bit, Don't really care about money past a couple hundred million. Seems easy to figure out to me.

Teams can trade players so why players can't ask for a trade? The team doesn't belong to the player, and these players get paid to do their jobs, I thought that's how the world of work was...

team trade players all the time it should be a 2 way street and not only benefit the owners, players should have a lil power in where they work/live

Why not say that if a player signs a deal for more than a couple of years, no trading. So really think about where u going. If u don't want a large deal, u missing out on the money

What they need is a rule to FRANCHISE TAG a player. What that mean is that if they "franchise tag" a player, that player CANNOT be traded unless it is being traded for another "franchise tagged" player. A team can franchise tag up to 3 players.

This Discussion is ridicolous... teams didnt care about contracts the last 20 Years... they did trade players they didnt need regardless if the player wanted to get traded or not. They even waved players or bought them out... that was modern slavery... now the billionars are angry, cause the players recognized, that they got the power and not some old white man with money.

Adam Silver has lost control of the league and is well on the way to ruining it if he hasn't done so already. He is a weak and ineffective commissioner.

The thing is this is a team sport in which no one is bigger than the team and YOU the player plays for the team the team doesn’t play for you, you sign for a team therefore a team can trade you if they want, players should be able to demand a trade but not like this out of control circus that is going on right now !

A player wants a trade just reduce his contract by 50% then trade him for no less than 2 first round picks. Make these guys pay for their freedom.
