I love how he captures the good and the bad. I'm amused by Armageddon. It's cool that there are some of these that Hadfield likes. Very cool. Fascinating when he explains differences, similarities in scenes, and other things. (Black holes, for instance.)
LostJedi26 Il y a 5 heures
The phrase on Apollo 13 was misquoted. It's "Houston, we've had a problem." I'm surprised Chris didn't correct that. I wonder if he knows about the misquoting. Also surprised the movie, if they were trying to be accurate, got the words wrong. Please don't criticize me for nitpicking. These things matter to some of us. :)

I could listen to his explanations for hours and hours, it's so fascinating and understandable! But I did miss 'Serenity' here. Well, I mean, either Firefly (the series) or Serenity (the movie), it's about people in space most of the time. So why not included?

Aww c'mon you showed him the wrong scene. You could've at least showed him the gravity scene or at least a scene that is better than the black hole one.

I read somewhere recently that one of the Russian cosmonauts took some icons and a Bible with him to the ISS. I wonder if Hadfield ever felt something like religious awe at the universe while in space. I bet he did.

1:55 but there is a different force acting on Sandra... Centrifugal force. The arm she was attached to was spinning and she was at the end of it.. if you'd have a merry go round in space it would launch you in a different direction if you let go as well.

He's complaining the interstellar crew isn't having fun in space, they look glum. Dude, watch the movie, the whole earth is about to die. It's very sad times and they have the responsibility of the entire human race on them. They fail and entire race gets extinct. Go have some fun.
Malcolm Chilton

Relax Chris. It's called dramatic licence. It's a technique often used to create excitement for the viewer. it doesn't need to be technically correct it needs to be entertaining. You should maybe stop watching space movies. Musicals are good, or maybe westerns?

I appreciated most of these reviews, but found some of them remarkably wrong. For instance the insistence that the X15 would not have any vibration or sound. According to the actual test pilots who flew many missions in various evolutions of this rocket plane, this is simply wrong. In fact, the job of those pilots was to record those problems and try to recreate them, so that the craft could be improved and made safer. I guess so that guys like Chris Hadfield wouldnt have the same problems. There were half a dozen other issues I had, like the Bullock scene where she flys off in a different direction than the boom she is spinning on. Hello, it was spinning in a circle on its axis. When she separated how would she be spinning in a circle around an axis she no longer had any connection with. Chris Hadfield is a distinguished hero. But he makes a lot of false assumptions and draws false conclusions here. I agree with about 80% of it. And if I am in doubt, I give HIM the benefit of the doubt. The 20% is stuff I am SURE he is wrong about, because of my superior understanding of physics and math, and because of the writings and opinions of other pilots and astronauts. Still, very interesting and he seems like a very nice and acomplished man. What an honor. Databyter

In the Martian they didn't use gravity correctly because it would be kind of distracting to the plot and really annoying to film so you can't really blame them.

The idea of that scene with the shooting astronauts on the rovers being silent seems way more cinematically cool, and like he said more realistic too. Should've done that

In gravity it will be so much more relatable and traumatizing if they made the astronauts behave like astronauts and not like they were thrown into a space rocket and launched into space. I think if they might have had a relationship during training or in quarantine it would have been deeper.

Why is it so hard to portray things accurately? Real space travel is inherently fascinating and dangerous, yet storytellers keep trying to "jazz it up" with fake awe and artificial drama.

Andy Weir, the author of The Martian said that the only thing impossible about the book is that a storm on Mars could not have caused that much trouble. But it was either that or human error to leave the astronaut stranded. So he went with the dust storm. So that is a known error , a "necessary error" if you will. :)
